Ok, is it me or do all the Hapkido uke in most video's cry and whine while demostrating their techniques. Is it manditory to scream and tap out like that when they demonstrate? When practicing TSD we had many Hapkido techniques and I never remember all the fuss and pain, no more than any other style. I see Aiki, JJJ uke get thrown just as hard and they don't scream so what's the deal? Must be some kind of new kiai???

Too much showman ship for my liking. The uke not only puts on too much of an act of pain but is quite the acrobat to do those spins in the air and stuff.
I enjoy stuff like this when it is realistic in nature, and I understand that it is just a demo and they are just playing it up, but sometimes they can go overboard.
Schanne, you are correct, our TKD is blended with Hapkido so we do many of these techniques though not to the same degree, but non the less we tap and the odd whimper may come out but nothing even to compare to these.

HKD techniques hurt to the extreme when applied right. They will make any man submit or break. that being said, they are not done to that extreme in demos. The over acting is just a way to express to the general public of the potential pain of the technique and for the selling point.
