taekwondo - 04/02/05 06:15 AM

I am new on this forum but i believe that taekwondo seems to be getting alot of stick. I have trained in it for 8 years and have learnt not only kicking techniques but arm locks and effective self defense moves. With regards to peoples views on the pointlessness of practicing patterns, i believe that if you break them down you will find some effective movements which you can use on the streets

dear daffy

I have been training in taekwondo for only three years and I am a red belt, I know taekwondo, self defence, knife defence, grampling, jo staff, bits of num chucks, sai, kama and the samari sword. Taekwondo delves into everything you would like to do. I have also studied shotokan karate and I find it is very similar apart from I think tkd involves more kicking that punching. Do not be disheartened
