Your DoJangs! - 12/07/04 08:56 PM
Hi,
I'm interested in learning where you guys all train. If your dojang has a website, post it here. Tell us something about your dojang, how long you've trained there, what rank you are, what patterns you do, what styles, etc. This way, if any of us happens to be in that part of the world, we can always find place to train!
http://www.cwtkd.com/ I don't really train there now, per se, but my current Sabunim is the head instructor there. I might train there in a few weeks, once my toe heals. I'm BB (WTF) and we do both ITF and WTF forms. We focus on Olympic style sparring and travel to competitions.

Hi,
My name is Alicia Stewart. I am the head instructor at Three Dragons Martial Arts Academy in Fairbanks, Alaska. Im a IV Dan BB and study under the ITF system. I love this discussion forum because sometimes I feel like no one understands the trials of being an instuctor in the martial arts and I have read many things here that have helped me in my teaching profession.
nice to meet you

Re: Your DoJangs! - 12/08/04 10:33 AM
I train under Sean Wright in Fort Saskatchewan
http://www.elite-tkd.com (the information here has not been updated for almost 2 years but I keep reminding them). Sean Wright and the other Elite instructors from all of the locations trained under Master Sung Lee
http://www.sunglee-taekwondo.com/master.htm I am currently a 3rd gup red stripe and having been doing Taekwondo since September of 2002. We are a WTF dojang and do Taegeuk froms. We do spar but there is not a huge emphasis on this. If you want to heavily spar then you would join the fighting team otherwise we only spar on our "D" Days. Four times a year we also hold a interclub tournament but you only go if you want. Master Ty's Spirit Teakwondo also joins our interclubs as well acts as a tester for our promotion and blackbelt tests.
We run a schedule of 6 days that circulates, this way everday is something different. These days are:
A - Promotion Preparation (If no promotion test on schedule then it is the instructors choice).
B - Kicking Training
C - Patterns & Basic Movements
D - Sparring Techniques
E - Self Defense / Falling Techniques (Many times we grapple as our instructor is also a black belt in Jujisu)
F - Long Stretch, Breaking Techniques & Target Sparring

Hi TKDNewb. I'm not sure by this what you are for ranking. Are you a Yellow Belt (8th Gup) or 2nd Degree Black Belt (2nd Dan)?

I liked your site for three reasons.
1) I have my own little dragons
2) one of them is named Alicia (foster kid so I don't get credit for the name)

TKDGuy,
I have read of a master Park but I don't know him.

Re: Your DoJangs! - 04/12/05 02:17 PM
Hi,
I use to train, before i moved to college, at Master Chang Kim's TKD. He is located in Norwalk, CA. We practice palgwe forms and later on taegeuk(argh how do you spell this) forms. He is an 8th degree black belt. Teaches real good and i reached the rank of 6th cup? err..... white, yellow, purple, blue, *green*, brown, red, black. Very small private dojo so you get a lot of teacher student time which helps immensly in training.
