Anyone else sick and tired of Ken Shamrock?

Anyone else sick and tired of Ken Shamrock? - 12/31/05 07:58 PM

I'm pretty much sick of the over-glorification of this lesser Shamrock. He has always lacked speed and intelligence and everyone I know who has ever trained with his team says he's a sissy. Anyone else conclude?

I think that Ken was an asset to the UFC in the earlier days. Back in the day when he first competed, he was well above everyone else technically. He is "old school".

In this day and age you need a much higher level of skill to compete. Most of the top guys coming in today are division 1 wrestlers. I think Ken played football at a Jr. college or something.

Now the guy is in his 40s. He can't be expected to compete with today's guys at his skill level, but that isn't to take anything away from him. If it weren't for Ken Shamrock from a marketing stand-point, the UFC might not be where it is today.

I don't think he's a sissy, but he should retire,IMO.

Maybe he should be commentator like Bas.

I don't think I'd call him a sissy to his face. Maybe, when he's 90 I might reconsider.

Ken is a UFC Hall of Famer and for good reason. No Ken is not the caliber he was when he earlier fought. No Ken does not have some of the skill that guys up and coming have. Yes Ken is old school but old school can still be more then half of the UFC guys today even at the age of 40.

The last fight I saw with him was with Rich Franklin. The whole fight didn't look right and almost seemed, to me, that it was staged. Sorry, it just felt and looked that way. Ken of course should not have thrown that high kick that landed him on his butt and I think if that wouldn't have happened it would have gone longer and possibly ... possibly as anything can happen ... he "may" have won or at least lost to a decision.

His previous fight with Kimo Leopoldo was a solid fight against a big solid dude who I'd seen fight before and was a worthy opponent. And then let's go back to UFC 5 when Shamrock fought Royce Gracie. This ended in a draw and it should have gone to Shamrock. Not bad for a guy who fought for over 35 minutes with a ground specialist that was dominating the matt at that time and for years to come.

Ken paid his dues more then many. Give the guy some respect, he earned it.

They had to promote their coach for the next season. What better way than him beating one of the classics.

Who do you know that trained with his team? Seems to be pretty weak to talk behind his back like that.

Rich Franklin vs. Ken, pathetically staged.

It's easy to just tear someone down though.

as far as ken and royce fight in the ufc goes, ken did nothing but stall for time which [censored] me off, it wasn't hard to tell he was scared to move. Royce is the man and the decision was spot on.

Ken Shamrock, certainly has earned respect the hard way,& To talk about him with such disdain,is cowardice.

James, you like so many others, have overlooked the fact that Royce stalled as well. All Royce did was hold the gaurd, taking no risks and trying no sweeps or submissions. What could Ken do if Royce didn't let him up or do anything but hold?

I guess the point I'm making is BOTH of them stalled, and made a very boring, lackluster, disappointing fight.
