Can anyone provide me with any links to Sambo sites? - 03/14/04 05:19 PM

Information on Sambo is hard to find on the web and I don't want to go spending money on books.

I am curious to get an deep look into the art.

Any sites you recommend?

This site has some info. I went to this school once with my Judo club. http://www.nysambo.com/sambo/
On the photo page, I think there is still a picture with me in it actually. It says Dec. 14th open mat photo. I am the one in the white Judo gi sitting in the middle.

Go to one of my best friends website.
www.kurinnoy.borec.ru

Igor Kurinnoy 3x World Sambo Champion and 5x World Cup Sambo Champion.
I train with Igor every year. One year I go to Moscow, the next year he comes here.

Oh, come on... why would you study Sambo unless you are intend to fight? Should study authentic japanese martial arts instead. Slav culture is rather savage and it is very very well demonstrated in Sambo, why would one prefer that to the alternative that is presented in judo?

Both arts are good. Sambo has some wrestling in there.

Shootfighting is even more complete:

Karata, Thai boxing, Judo, Shoot wrestling.

Hey does Sambo concentrate more on throwing than on ground work or vice versa?

I can't speak for every Sambo club, but the one I went to seemed to be structured very similar to our Judo practices. We started with a warm up and uchi komi, then some mat fighting, then some instruction, and ended with throws/takedowns into mat fighting.
