Good pre-workout meal - 04/16/05 01:32 PM
If you are looking for something that will stay with you and give you good energy before a workout. Try oatmeal (real) not the prepackaged flavoured stuff. Add a tbl spoon of natural peanut butter a hint of cinnamon and raisons with a glass of skim milk about 1.5 hrs before you go to class. It really hits the spot and keeps you going for a good 3 to 4 hours.

Oatmeal is a staple in my diet, everyday, everymorning:
Dry oatmeal
Skim milk
Nuke it for 2 min or so
Add vanilla whey protein
sliced almonds
raisins
Cinnamon
Occasionally add chopped fruit.
Makes for one big-ass bowl to eat, but like Dan said, it DOES keep you going.

I blend my oats to a powder and mix it with whey and milk. Oats are a great source of complex carbs.

I usually have a normal sized bowl of wholemeal pasta and a tomato based sauce (no meats in it)..packed with fibre and complex carbohydrates..cant beat it
