how to give a sword as a gift

im interested in knowing the proper way to give a sword as a gift to someone. im really interested in the respect parts of the exchange...any help would be appreciated as i need to do this very soon

That's a great question. Did you see the movie, "Kill Bill"? There was a scene where she was given a katana in Okinawa by a famous swordsmith and they had a ceremony that your talking about. I know it only a movie but it might be a Japanese ritual, don't know, look up Japanese etiquette and sword rituals on google, let me know what you find.....thanks
