By the way, just for the hell of it. To answere your question. Look for an instructor, not a book or web site. Try
http://www.stcloudkarate.com/ You might not get iaido or kenjutsu there but you and your friend can get tai chi and a few other systems there. Should be a good start for you two.

There are plenty of site to pour over just do a search on Kendo/Kenjitsu. Practice with shinai's and bokkens.

It might not hurt to glance over Musashi's Gorin No Sho: The Book of Five Rings, which has more than a few good tips . . .
