Sword forms on the big screen - 05/08/04 03:25 AM
I am a new student to both Kendo and Iaito.
I seem to see very often elegent forms in movies, Anime, and TV where the katana is held backwards with one hand. (Where if your right hand was out reached the blade would be horizontal against your right arm blad facing your opponent)
Does anyone know if there is a real style of kata for holding the blade in that manner? Is there any merrit to this at all?
One person told me this was called 'A' style. But nothing has come up in my research.
