888knivesrus.com as a place to buy an Iaito - 12/01/06 06:22 PM

Hello, I was recommended to get a Paul Chen Nami Iaito sword from this website 888knivesrus.com because of ok quality while still being "relatively" inexpensive. Does anyone have any comments and/or concerns regarding the website, sword model, and the manufacturer? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Paul Chen. Enough said.

The entire Hanwei line has a terrible reputation for quality control. So bad that their entire practical series is banned from a number (perhaps a majority) of dojos.

As for knivesRUs, I really have no experience with them. However, I refuse to do business as they sell Stainless Steel Swords without a warning. Stainless is dangerously brittle and should not be used for a blade over 6 inches.

Thanks Benjamin1986 for the advice. Is there suggestions out there on where to get a reasonable 28inch Iaito that is good quality? And should I be worried that my soon to be Iaijutsu sensei was the one who suggested the Paul Chen/Hanwei sword to me?

Not necessarily. I'm not a fan of the Paul Chen Iaito I've seen, but I know they are allowed in some perfectly good dojos.

As for inexpensive iaito:
