How about after you have signed up you have to wait a set amount of time before you can post. This could solve many of the problems we have with people creating dozens of screen names so that they can flame. It could also help deter some of the people who never plan on contributing seriously. They could sign up and then when they realize that they have to wait three days before they can post they leave. Just my 2cents
