I am taking on a job as a security officer. What are some good tips for handling situations. This is my first security job. I will not be carrying a gun. So any good advice would be appreciated. I can defend myself bare handedly and I can talk myself out of pretty much any situation but I am not shure how to calm people down. Help.

I think it is always good to use empathy and good body language, passive posture, not pointing fingers or raising your voice- if you are clalm it helps others to be calm in your presence- however that is easier said than done when you've got some drunken idiot in your face. you should not be on your own anyway if a situation should arise, if it does you've got the tools to deal with it.
