Thanking LEO's - 06/24/03 11:10 PM

I got arrested this weekend, for a failure to appear warrant. Not something the average Joe would praise the police for! However, (with one slight exception, covered later), the police were respectful, professional, and reasonable. My car was impounded, and came back with nothing missing. My personal effects were treated well. I was given a blanket when cold, and some mcdonalds burgers at mealtime (ah, the monoculture!). Basically, a potentially stressful situation was handled so as to keep everyone calm. So I just wanted to say thank you to the Hazelwood, MO. Police Department. But next time, would you mind SETTING my keys on the hood, instead of THROWING them? Scratches are hard to buff out!

It is, perhaps, the classic example of offender behaviour (no offence, I don't think you're really an offender, more a.. er...um..well, moving on... ) dictating officer responses. Just like in self defence really. See, there are parrellels between MA's and real life everywhere

Budo (and try to keep your bloody appointments in future )

(ignoring ed)
The best part was the loudmouths who were yammering to be let out, but who didn't realize the Lieutenant was shuffling them to the bottom of the stack every time they opened their mouths!

Funny you say that. Reminds me of a story told to me at work.

A colleague told me of a time when he was in the US Marine Corp (siad with the usual, "I love the corp!" manner). Well he'd gotten a little bit more than steamingly drunk one night and ended up in the local chokey. Furtunately (he thought) the local warrant officer was on duty and patroling the various police stations.

His hopes raised, he calls out to his army type buddy, "Hey you!! When you gonna get me the f**k outta here??!!"

"Oh I'll get you outta here, Boy" came the reply.

Imagine his surprise when 4 cops took him from the holding cell and took him to a room to kick the sh*t out of him.

Just goes to show, manner cost nothing and go a long way.

Budo.

No, No Jamoni, Cato isn’t being sarcastic, it is the British police and the famous “attitude test”

Where would we be without good honest and open minded LEO!????
Just wish all coppers were like this…...........absolute power corrupts absolutely …......

attitude test is there such a thing? I've never heard of that before

I suspect they recognised Jamoni for the thoroughly decent chap that he undoubtedly is, and treated him with the same courtesy and respect he showed them. Nothing like an attitude test at all.

Holy sh.... He scratched my car just to see if I'd be pissy about it? That SOB! I take it all back! (Just Joking) Hell, that's pretty clever. A feint, just to see how I'd react? I'm intrigued....

Jamoni,

Mate, are you familiar with Sir Isaac Newton’s 4th law (he was an English man)

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

That is really what we are talking about here.

Cato, you are a complete ninny, I only hope that when you have a crown (or more) on your shoulder you think the same way.

Respect
