I have to go see this someday! I would love to try out some of the obstacles that are on the show.

This seemed appropriate, in context. Looks like fun:

Yeah, I've seen this. One of the two people who ever finished this course as part of the Sasuke competition is Makoto Nagano, a fisherman. Apparently he trained all the time climbing his boat's rigging. I reckon that it'd be great fun to give the actual competition a shot, although I'd want to train a LOT for it beforehand.

For those of you who don't know what the Sasuke competition is:

ESPN showed the original show that translated as 'Viking', and Nagano was the only guy to complete all stages of that. Sasuke is much tougher- some of the stuff on the second stage is insane! Nothing but respect for these guys, and Nagano is rightly quite a celebrity in Japan- hell of an athlete.

Well, he's pretty far down on the 'minor' end of the celebrity scale, but it is an interesting show. The editing and translation of the version shown in the US is just terrible.

The UK show is awesome! We get Stuart Hall commentating on it. He used to present 'Its a Knockout' and is rightly a British institution- he adds a great deal of excitement and humour to it.
