Re: PP resources and maps - 01/18/07 09:00 PM

FYI... the entire body is rift with accupuncture points and hitting points that don't just happen to be coincident. They are based on the autonomic and sympathetic nervous systems and are dynamically connected.

The TCM accupuncture points were used to treat hitting points damage because they were essentially "damage to areas of chi generation, flow, use, or conduits for chi".

Regardless of what you call the points, they are dynamically linked in the body's operational systems and damage to the nerve centers can be caused by striking points connected to the "nerve bundles", such as solar plexus or maxillary plexus, or by hitting the nerve bundle itself. Either way, the fix is to use that system of TCM points for treatment and/or the methods developed in TCM with accupuncture or accupressure.

Will you be studying with a DKI instructor? If your instructor is good, you won't have to learn all the theory that quickly. I study with KI and it is pretty well graded and progressive. Your instructor will have his own preference on tips and web sites books videos etc. If you've done what I'm reading, i.e. gone to a few seminars, and are now starting Kyusho jitsu with or without a black belt for background, then for awhile, just stick to your instructor's program. For basics, you will want a good college text in anatomy and physiology. A good acupuncture chart with descriptions of where the points are is another essential. These are better and more accurate than manikins although I like the manikins so that I can get a larger picture at a glance.

Thats actually a point worth some research (no pun intended).

Quote:

Okay, what about the concept of pressure points being acupuncture points? Well, maybe then the answer is that a pressure point is an acupuncture point? Many people use the acupuncture charts as maps to where pressure points are located. These have to be the official/legitimate pressure points, don’t they?

That answer, by my definition, is also wrong. And NO, the charts tell the locations of ACUPUNCTURE points NOT the location of pressure points.

??? someone is wrong here. I certainly don't know.

I'd think this fundamental question would need to be resolved before people continue supplying this thread with links to resources. or...just rename the thread to: "PP & AP resources and maps"

Re: PP resources and maps - 11/24/08 02:51 PM

Please note that this thread is an informational sticky and is for resources on the subject of 'pressure points'.

As Ed and WT suggested, I've deleted all the posts from where the thread derailed.

I encourage anyone interested to make a new thread on the topic of pressure point effiacy.

Good discussion, but make a new thread.

Found some new info on this site. The PDF there gives some basic data about pressure points. The information seems to gear toward someone new to pressure points. Decent intro info:
