Bo Kata - 07/31/03 07:55 PM

Does anyone know where I can find online mpgs or similar detailing different forms of Bo Kata?

Just doing a bit of research.....

ok thanks for that!
I will check this one out, the local MA shop was out of them when I was last there. I have one of his nunchaku books which is quite good.

I also have Total Stick Fighting by Hiryuki Aoki however the forms are more modern derivatives of the kata and I was interested in looking at the more traditional forms that other MAs are doing!

I was hoping to find some avi or mgs files on the net but they are scarce and the couple I've seen have nowhere the power and force behind them that we put into our bo work!

Our MA group have taken the original Shisi No Kon [sp?] and split it into 4 different kata - Sakugawa, Shimabuku, Miasata and Bo 4, and they all come together as one kata for one of the higher black belt gradings [godan I think]. They are wonderful kata to do [and to watch].

We are heavily into bo work and it is one of the highlights of training for me, I love working with weapons, particularly the bo!

Check our site out for kobudo kata and empty-hand kata:

http://karate.dhs.org/katanote.htm

You'll find the Bo Kihon kata up there.
