Am looking for someone with knowledge of this ancient okinawan method of grappling: i.e. sometimes called okinawan sumo. It is said that there is a direct connection between many of the chinese/okinawan katas and an older method of grappling: wrestling, jujitsu, etc. Some theorists believe that a few of the katas were designed as a catalog of techinque that can be applied to grappling.

a shotokan stylist in britain named abernathy is a strong proponent of this idea, and has produced some videos about grappling in the katas. His ideas are quite good, and his applications try to stay within the confines of the katas.

Another person who demonstrates an aikijitsu method of application in similar katas is tony annesi.

I believe you can find both individuals on youtube.

Outside of these two, the only other person to openly discuss teguma is McCarthy in his dvd series.
