The videos you posted.
I think the techniques are getting somewhat closer to their chinese roots that I tend to come across from my studies.


I also think it looks like in some cases trying to adapt a technique to a different range than it was meant for. In- close work(grappling range ).

But that is just my(guess) skimmed look at the techniques.
