Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 08/16/06 10:57 AM

In a few moments I'm going to take you all on a walk down Mammory Lane....sorry... Memory Lane. I 'm going to share a collection of Oldman cartoons known as "Famous Trolls Through the Ages". As I do feel free to share any fond memories past trolls or even trolls That I have failed to mention or unconsiously dissassciated from my conscious mind. You may feel free to nominte a favorite of your own. Keep in mind one mans troll is another man's champion of truth.

The Warlock

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The Warlock was an east coast kind of guy. He was enamored with leather and Conan styled cutlery. He offered as evidence for the the efficacy of his self created sword style both a photo of his home made "Shredder" cotume and his online arrest record for stabbing a "friend" with a knife.

Kickcatcher was cool coz he made me laugh and actually had the balls to come down and train with us. Hedgehoggy was one of the Bullshido trolls that was a bit of a prat though.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 08/16/06 11:15 AM

My favorite was the "Ice-Cream Soke", who learned his deadly style from some deadly Asian fellow, whilst working at his father's ice cream parlor. Training included lifting "100 gallon containers" of ice cream.

This should be good!

Most recently, I recall a certain "rich princess wide-eyed wannabe million-dollar baby cupcake's publicity spindoctor" who offered Ed_Morris a free ass beating.

Timidy for me, no question. "Do you think the ninjas in Batman Begins really exist?" Which we all thought meant he was about 14, maybe 15.

A notion that was firmly quashed in his insightful "People are regularly attacking me on the bus, but I can't tell my parents because, they, like me, are in their 30's!!"

The guy was a legend.

Dong was the garden variety "Can I learn from books so don't tell me I cant learn from books cause Iv'e already created my own style from training alone? " troll. His Bo staff skills were "Legundary".

What about the Viking guy! He used to train by digging 50 ft trenches in his yard, running on the beach "in full armor", lifting logs, swimming with sharks, etc.

What a goof.

spindoctors are a peice of cake...try taking on "self-righteous, rank worshiping, kneel before Zod, mail order hanshi nazi's of evil" trolls.

then there was the trolls who were so far gone, they didn't even know they were trolls - like "Oozuru"....oldman will tell the stories/synopsis...

Right! I almost forgot about SifuSkyler! He was the one that was the baddest fighter/grappler ever......except he didn't compete. Knew everything about everything and did it WAY before you did. Fought dogs and wolves regularly, and even outran a bear! Sure, of course he did.

Harlan -

All these troll were here in my tenure, and you have been here longer than me. However, you may not remember them as most (all?) of their posts were lost in the server transition.

EDIT - All the ones I mentioned, I mean. Some of the ones that Oldman mentions were before my time, too.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 08/16/06 01:50 PM

Halan,
Back in the day only one person had the power to ban people. That was Mr.V. At one point he was awol leaving the site undefended. I took over as Admin and spread the power to ban to 3 members in different time zones. That way the site was always overseen. We have become so good at spotting trolls and eradicating them that we may have become less "Vigorous". For a time it was only me with my pen and tiny scraps of paper to defend the honor of our sovereign Mr. Caille. At one point I faced expulsion for my visual contributions.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 08/16/06 01:53 PM

Ah...I logged on '04, but didn't return to site until Spring '05 and the server switch. I think it was the troll activity that actually kept me away.

So, I guess you got a new kind of troll.

NeoAnarchist.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

NeoAnarchist was what I refer to as a "Nombre Negre" troll. A troll of this variety generally chooses a name that begins with Black, Dark or Darkness and or perhaps a reptile. BlackDragon2302... meaning that there were 2301 people befor them who were equally unimaginitive concerning their sign on name. The other option might be BlackDragon1996 which would reflect the year they were born.... or spawned.

Remember LameDojoHater? He was the one who posted an anonymous letter to his instructors, informing them that their curriculum was for crap. He was a green belt who outranked all the other green belts in his class, and was of a much higher standard than all the black belts combined.

He was starting his own style, where he would be the 'sensie'

Drakar

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I should let Joel tell you about Drakar. Drakar as his training partner sibling had read every book by or about bruce Lee ever published. He would wax poetic about any art and offer often self contradicting advice to people in consecutive posts. In one day he proclaimed Aikido usless then followed later in the day with a post to a young woman looking for effective self defence the virtues of...you guessed it AIKIDO!. One of my favorite all time quotes was when he said to cxt... "You are clueless kid". Of course Drakar was man of the world, all of 17, and rarely ever left his house.

"is banning a prerequisite for acquiring troll status?"

no. ...and hopefully being banned does not necessarily make you a troll.

I think in the context of this thread it's more like ex-forum members who were real 'winners'. a FA 'darwin awards' ceremony (ala oldman) if you will.

He has Left of his own accord, been banned, only to return for more. He is and Admins nightmare because he provides valabe content yet the admin gets multiple pms to ban him for forum infractions.

Multiverse! Oldman, you got that right. He is probably THE WORST kind of troll, because he is only a micron from being an MVP on the forums. Very knowledgeable and occasionally friendly, but......woof. DARE to disagree with him on anything - style, lineage, shoes (not kidding!), etc, and he launches into a teen-age swearfest of biblical proportions, insulting anyone that doesn't share his view.

Truly irritating that he cannot seem to control his temper.

I remember one guy on the sword forum, he claimed that in his part of Canada, disagreements were decided by bokken duels in the street. I believe Laf banned him, but unfortunately, the thread was lost during the server transition.

Of course he was the one who criticized Sharon for having a dramatic "I'm leaving" post after the England/US joke that went badly. And what did he do when he left? A dramatic "I'm leaving" post.

I am enjoying this so much.

d) Reiki anti-healing victim.
e) Body-double. The acual razwell is in 'protective custody' and confined to area 51.

Well,You can usually spot a troll when he/she has a wild imagination of story,Such as boasting how good of a MAS he/she is.

The lack of ambition, vocabulary,& mannerism's are certainly,& IMO could be/somtimes signs of a troll. In short,I'm sorry to say you just don't fit the profile of a troll.

I remember one not too long ago, who claimed that performing pull-ups stretched out his arms. When we told him it just didn't work that way, he told us he was better in MA in every aspect. Was pretty weird because he said his location was outside the U.S.... but "spoke" in a southern dialect.

He has Left of his own accord, been banned, only to return for more. He is and Admins nightmare because he provides valabe content yet the admin gets multiple pms to ban him for forum infractions.

You forgot my original name OmegaPoint. Also Unsu, Son Of Soken and now Unyu. I'm a crazy fool, huh?

My "iterations" were often done when this site crashed (multiple times). I don't fight fair, either by verbiage or combative strategem/strategy . I do tend to become verbally confrontational on forums, yet have been told that in person I'm cool as a glacier. I hate presumptuous behavior, yet can be judgemental. I try to contribute in my way, with sparing regard for forum etiquette. I'm a lover of free and spirited discourse. That's not copacetic to disciplinarian types. It has not been received well on multiple sites, to say the least. Even my sensei told me to cool out. I'm sorry but Christ compels me !

I never thought of myself as a Troll. Billy Goat Gruff, yeah, but a Troll, no! I don't mean to flame, but sometimes that happens. Especially if someone tries to say all karate is equal or that that there is no useful fighting karate not of Oyama's lineage. That ignunce gets squashed quick-fast! Word, Mattie!

I guess the negative I've deposited here far outweighs the positive <<inject facetious tone>>. At least it seems that way right now. The future bares the truth. When you're more aware of things, if you really find relevance in all the hope, you'll remember that somewhere, at one time, someone who was "trolling" tipped you off to it. You can thank me then--- or now...

Here's to complacency and diplomacy in mass discussion. CHEERS! Have at it fools!!! Sorry if I twisted panties and underoos. Sorry if I hurt any feelings amongst you big, strong marticians... Two tears in a bucket! F--kit!!! I like to spar, always have, verbally and otherwise. What good is a MAs site if ya' can't swang hands, so to speak?! After all words won't give you brain damage or injure you physically, unless your will is inferior.

Watch what you deep-sea fish for... Ya' may hook a big toofy-arsed shark!!!

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who intentionally posts controversial or contrary messages in an on-line community such as an on-line discussion forum with the intention of baiting users into an argumentative response.

I think that statement can apply to a lot of people who take part in internet coversations.

I dont think you are a fool as stated.I think you put forward some realy good points. But it would be easier if you and others answered questions after you and others have made statements. Particuler the negative types. .

Such as why do you think this guys kata performance is poor?
Which part is poor? what should he be doing etc etc.
Its realy easy to sit in a computer and make a negative statement with out being able or willing to back it up!

I for one havent noticed any trolls, i feel like i'm missing something, havent been here very long right enough, Is it the done thing to acuse somoeone of being a troll? (if you think thats what they are) or is that like calling someone a B@*%$&* or such?

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/29/07 02:27 PM

Accusing someone of trolling every other post is a bad thing, but in the case of a few people like the aforementioned Razwell, their trolling behaviour is blatantly obvious. Give it a few posts, at least ten, and if those posts are obvious trolling, call it and report to a moderator.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/29/07 11:20 PM

What I find amusing about all this is that I know for sure that I've been posting on this site even before oldman. I suggested fa.com make a separate karate forum which they did. I have detailed kata such as Seisan (move-by-move), explained why most kata out there is faulty--- stances too long and wide, jodan uke at 90 degree, punches with horizontal fists, etc.. I give you the science because I know science not just what Shifu or Sensei or Sigung have taught me, but bonafied rationale based on modern science. Dumb arses!!! Just because I get angry at know nothings who try and claim that what they do (karate-do or don't) is as relevant as anything else out there, doesn't make me a troll. It's just the truth. Most of you martial artists are barely martial and an artist like MattJ is an awesome drawer. Sorry to not be nice about it. I give it straight up with no feces. Come correct.

I think oldman is passive aggressive, and knows that labeling me as a troll will rally others to his mislabeling. It's like calling someone a name in grade school that the entire school starts using just because you have popularity or power. It's cowardly, and was done at a time when I was banned for jack sh-t. I couldn't even defend myself at the time. I don't get on here to rile people up. I get on here to give you an educated and trained opinion. I don't do video proof or whatever, my words and reasons are concise enough. It'll be cold day in hell when I put a video on any of these inane and unsecure sites.

I use my real name and every karate guy who's been on here for years knows my real name and rank, my sensei, my background and so on. To label and lump me in the same category as the rest of the dolts you mentioned is unfair and an outright lie.

Do you expect me to NOT say "f--ck off" or "go to hell"? You're a gaddomn idiot if you believe that. If you get mad at what I say, from Ron Goninan to JKogas, it's because I'm making you question what it is you THOUGHT was reality. Ron G. with his B.S. White Crane and Jack Kogie with his presumptuous attitude and opinion that all karate (except the Oyama derivates) is worthless.

Get a friggin' clue geniuses. Be happy I ain't loose leaf like the majority of the teens and geeks on here. There is Mariana's Trench depth here, fools. Diversity and heated discourse is a good thing, you Japanese Samurai wanna-bes!!!

hey, I'm taking the 'Unyu defense' to that accusation.

don't blame me if I provoke people to critically think as oppossed to blindly praise without questioning. sure, egos on both sides of any argument might get banged up a bit - but thats the risk in sparring ain't it? or we could have a 'cooperative' forum where only the like-minded are invited with back-patting and popularity contests rule the day. The deepest posts I've seen on forums like that are threads titled such as: "What is your favorite belt color?"

but I know you are just sortof kidding, eyrie...just letting out a jab to offset your frustrations of arguments past. daijoubu desu.

Unyu, I'll thank you now. Some of your posts over the years, made me think, or pointed towards looking into something I hadn't considered...particularly history-wise. Not so much actual technique-wise other than helping articulate some things difficult to put into words, until seeing a reference you give of an term I wasn't aware of.

On the downside, (which never really bothered me personally - and actually provided a laugh at my expense sometimes but was worth the comedic value), is/was your insulting and condecending tone. Thats where you get the negative response you do from people. you could make a really good argument, and then blow it by insulting your opposition. The emotions stirred when you do that turns people off to your technical points. I try to separate the points from the random acts of hate, or try to look past wondering what medication led people to write what they do sometimes.

we all have quirks, afflictions and diagnosis that are probably hard to pronounce termed indicies in mental health case studies. So in a way, we are all trolls of varying degree. For an admin, it's like nurse Ratchet in 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest' trying to draw lines....and I think oldman does that well: draw lines.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/30/07 08:29 AM

Anyone familiar with LOTR would know: there are different degrees of trolls. There are the 'lesser trolls...basically minions of undifferentiated beings that come and go un-noticed, and that only make a significant mark en masse.

Then there are the 'greater trolls'. Special category. Beings of higher intelligence and superior ability that regrettably serve the dark side. Worthy opponents...that unfortunately must, in the end, meet the same fate as lesser trolls.

Thanks for the honesty. Although I am a bit confused - am I a bad artist or a bad martial artist? And if I am a bad martial artist, AND I'm bad in bed, do they cancel each other out? You know, yin-yang style?

Maybe we can create a "Dumb arses karate-don't barely martial cowardly dolts gaddomn idiot teens and geeks Samurai wanna-bes" forum for which you can be the moderator. Although, apparently I have better qualifications for it than you do, sorry.

Considering this post was started in August of 2006, and the drawing was done in May of 2005......sheesh.

I don't think that the above comments were inaccurate or unreasonable. Sound pretty direct and straight forward.

At the time the post was made how was I to know if or when you'ld ever be back? You're like some trailer park dad that goes out for a pack of cigarettes and doesn't come back for months. Then you come back with some great stories and gifts that you picked up at QuickTrip and want to move back in cause no one else will have your sorry as$.

So as sure as the sun comes up each morning I take you back in like the booze addled crank scank that I am. I don't really mind the passive aggressive lable. It fits. It's a growing edge for me. I'm learning how to be more direct. It would be more accurate to diagnose it as co-dependency.

So just to keep it real... once again you talk smack about one of the only people here that advocates for you sticking around. It's all there in the admin threads. Just ask the mods baby.

So Unyu...or whoever you may be this month or next week, yeah I know you "bring it" and "keep it real" and "spit it". It just hard to know when I'm interacting with the scientist or fat little kid being shuffled from military base to military base around the world getting his as$ kicked having to fight for a place at the lunch table.

So if you want to sit at the table, fine. Get some manners peckerwood. If not, hit the bricks. The lunch lady is tired of cleaning up your messes.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/30/07 03:19 PM

my favorite troll of all time wasn't even from this forum. He was, the now infamous, Mall Ninja. Popped onto a gun forum one fine day asking what kind of plates he should sew into his bulletproof vest so that he wouldn't have to worry about sniper fire while on patrol as. . . A Mall security guard.

He then went on to tell us all sorts of lovely things such as: He and his tactical team (which had a high speed golf cart to whisk them quickly to any point in the mall) apparently trained well, shooting off hundreds of rounds of ammunition daily so that they'd be ready to use their arsenal of death . ..as long as the local cops gave them permission of course.

Oh and he is "a master of three martial arts including ninjutsu, which means I can wear the special boots to climb walls."

Here's to you, Gecko45. The Original Mall Ninja.

This troll was so legendary that I still remember it, lo' 7 years hence.

Am I allowed to passively say time out? Guys??ladies??

All this verbal sparring aside I think Unyu is the same as people like ED and Medulant and some others on this forum . Through their arguments and discussions it makes people think and look at things in a different light. Research different things and it can be very informative.

Except Unyu and some others will state things and not answer questions as to why they stated such things.
If Unyu is guilty of being as indicated by the definition of being a troll then so are a lot of people who are not seen in that light.

Im not bothered what the label is just keep your minds working as they are. This is a great forum for thought provoking ,learning and sometimes humour with some very clever people leading it .

Unyu my one of my favourite read people. Please refrain from going nuts on people and please dont give me that I dont give a sh8t routine. Your clever and perceptive and only partialy guilty of trolling as are more than likely a lot of people.Problem is if every body responded in a how should I say a sharp manner it would turn in to a forum as per other "ego bashing " forums. The ones I dont like reading. So you state what is wrong with some arts and how they should be changed to make them better then take a back seat and work out what you are doing which is considered on this forum as being wrong.
Note I said on this forum.
So can we go back to the karate/applications forum? and continue the dicussion with your normaly excellent input ?

I dont think your a troll. Guilty of acting like that sometimes but so are others.

Unyu stop making comments about like this. Your right about most things but wrong on this one.

Bryan did make me look at things in a different light. He made me realize that no matter how long I or anyone else has trained we will never be as good as "r3al karat3" guys with "pure lineages" .
He made me think many times,"elist dipwad". Does that count?

Brian I cant understand some of your jargon.
I have read some of unya's dismissive negative statements and I stated he should not be using them. That is my business because I am communicating with him on certain topics openly on the forum and I disagree with what he says.

If he were to state what I do is a pile of cr2p I would ask why. If he were to state I would never be as good as he is I would ask why.
If he couldnt give me a good reason why it is cr2p then I would ignore his comments.

Untill present with myself during our online conversations he has been asked and has given certain answers but not enough information to justify his negative statements. Untill then I make no descision as to his negative comments other than to research what I think he is getting at.
Just as I would with anybody else who I think has a point.

What he does do though is as I described earlier is create the need for further research .

I try my best to abide by the forum rules. If people choose not to then that is up to the people who run this forum to do as they see fit. I understand it is then not for me to comment on their descision.

Brian, I try to avoid personal conflicts.

Unya if you are reading this can we further the conversation on the kata section.

You are all mad!

My pick:- definitely Razwell as being the most memorable cretin but some of the others have been similarly irritating at times...

Shills

"no actually"

A "racoon" is omnivorous, mostly noctural furry animal found all over the USA/Canada.
Ranges in size from 15 lbs to upwards of 30 lbs.
Its pretty smart for a near rodent and has passable "thumbs" so it can do some really weird things in terms of getting into and out of places/items.
Climbs and swims well too....they can actually drown the dogs used to hunt it every now and then.
Hunting it was and still is a common pastime in some areas of the USA.

Mountain Men or Davy Crocket etc are often pictured wearing a racoonskin cap.

There was a trade in their furs...still is to a much lesser extent.

Properly cooked they taste pretty good as well.

The name is often shortend to "coon" in several dialects of US "English."

It also has an unfortunate "slang" meaning that is quite racist and rather dated......ie its a kinda old and out of date racial slur that few people use anymore...and of course should never use.

So when people in the USA talk about "coon huntin"....unless you know otherwise and there are some of those a-holes out there of course they are usually talking about the animal.

OMG am I pedantic or what??????

I don't think I really want an answer to that.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/31/07 06:30 PM

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you see when i said

"no, actually"

Thats an answer, usally in response to a question.

so wheres the question, you may ask?

is it "no. I meant as in "Racoon hunting". " -
no, cant be that, thats not a question.

so it must be in reference to "Sheesh!!!! See what I mean!!!!! "

and my answer is still, No actually.

you can keep your Racoon info thank you very much I have no use for it here in Scotland.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/31/07 06:44 PM

Shills

Well actually its more of contextual thing---your "no actually" in CONTEXT was the last in a chain of statements that YOU started with "you can't say that" in regard to Ed saying he was going hunting.
When he explained it was for "racoons" and he asked if that made more sense--YOU said "no actually" or ie/essentially that the explination made no sense to you.

ie IN CONTEXT with the discussion you seemed to be mistaking a hunting reference with a racial slur.

If not then your previous statement of "you can't say that man" makes absolutly no sense....unless of course you were objecting to litteral/actual hunting...which again, in context, makes little sense as you did not make it clear as WHY "he could not say that.

See, unless he said something objectional....then essentially objecting to it makes ZERO sense.
Its a question of context---not punctuation/grammer.

I meant no disrepect and was honestly just trying to help.

If you were just kidding around with Ed, then I missed it...my bad.

I dont think its a trans-Atlantic misunderstanding more of a definition of certain words /jargon/context mis understandings.

At least the exchange of words was quite funny.

Unless you meant when you sleep someone else is taking your shift( Shift being a time spent at work as you know) and drawing excellent cartoons as you your self do.

Well.! I wont get in to that one. I think both guys( one is a girl? I know old man isnt!! ) would know what to look for . I think they both have lots of talent.

I agree that particuler drawing would look good in the suggestions thread. If the suggestion is considered by anybody is another matter.

I also think anything she? cares to draw would look good in any thread.

As does old mans drawings.

Can anyone think of any new additions for this list? I simply miss Oldman's drawings and would really like to see a few more. It has been a while since the last post so i am sure we have had a few more since then.

Can we have Forum specific trolls i.e. members who are otherwise harmless but who only troll in select forums, such as in the Aikido forum *cough Fileboy*?

i feel we need to devise away to create a thread for keeping trolls....for entertainment....imagine after a hard days work you come home read some constructive posts help out some fellow Ma's then go and jab the trolls with an on-line stick for a half hour or so....just make an ' your opinion on martial arts thread' and bobs your uncle!! :-D

did he invent that himself?
Posted by: jasperdaman

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 06/23/08 01:03 AM

Yer he did, though most of his moves r normal moves done incorrectly or badly. for example leading leg sidekick he called 'pistol kick' and he does it worse then a first day whitebelt.

Surely "The Master" rates a mention? His stay was brief, but he "broke new wind" with that 'test' of his...

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 06/24/08 10:43 AM

Agreed. Just for the nerve of calling himself "The Master". After so many years it still kind of creeps me out to be called that. I have so much to be humble about.

I still get a chrning gut when I think of the Master. My reply to him was, I feel, one of my better efforts!

What about Park, who came onto the TKD forum ranting about how disgraceful it was to call Choi Hong Hi "The General"? Troll or not?

I have a new nominee: The incomparable (Thank God!) paul40. He did us a good turn, though. Before the ban hammer dropped, he helped generate 30 pages worth of discussion: http://www.fightingarts.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=425064&page=1

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 09/02/10 07:11 AM

Best ones were definitely from back in 03-04. I remember those arguments about tropical birds and poop or whatever. And the guys who trained with full knights armor by swimming ten miles, than running 10 miles, and doing 10,000 pushups or something off the wall. Good times. After that they got kind of boring, seemingly normal at times. As if they kept thigns just believable enough to stay but annoying enough to be labeled trolls and eventually axed. I always liekd seeing how long they would last with those crazy claims due to sheer entertainment value.

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/09/10 01:47 AM

Hey guys, guess what I found!!!! This thread and others made me curious about what had become of our "dear" Razwell, the King of Trolls. It turns out that after leaving us, he went on a tour of other M.A. discussion websites, with the predictable results. Then he went into a nutrtion-dieting-health trip, and started doing his thing in various blogs of that nature. I found some of the stuff he wrote. As with his postings here, it was quite knowledgeable. But his take was as off-the-wall, opinionated and abrasive as we came to know and love. And, get ready for this, HE'S WOUND UP WITH HIS OWN BLOG!!! If you're curious, here it is: http://razwell.blogspot.com/
ROTFLMAO!!!!

Re: Famous Trolls Through the Ages - 10/09/10 03:49 AM

Yeah, he took to emailing me with abusive messages regarding some fringe scientists theories about cholestorol.

It was during my father-in-law's cancer battle, and when I replied explaining he had to stop because it was an added unpleasantness for my wife (we share an email account), he emailed back apologising and stopped. So there is a decent human behind his purility, I'll give him that.
