do you think they're told to make those stupid noises in the video or are their punches just that fast?

After leaving the ARMY, I studied Kali for 3 years I believed that I had taken my Martial Arts as far as they could go. Today I believe that Commander Coal Akida offers the finest training program in the world.

Re: Nightbreed - a crock - 07/30/05 02:22 PM

Those sounds they make... wieeerd! Why would anyone sound so idiotic in a fight? Are they trying to take their opponent's concentration away by making them laugh?

"The simple fact is that Nightbreed is the result of 12 years of Classified Research - 18 thousand hours of Development and a set of Combat skills that I have personaly tested in over 1 million Combat Engagements."

One MILLION??? Personally? Man, that guy knows how to pick a fight!

"I consider myself to be the world's top authority on Hand to Hand combat and can prove the skills of Nightbreed to the best fighters in the world."

The best? This guy really knows how to sell himself.

Have you noticed how many spelling mistakes and grammatical errors there are on that site? If it's such a great system and they really want people to join up, why don't they pay enough attention to proof read the site selling it?

Not one of the links to further information works.

The only quote I would treat with any legitimacy would be the one by Leonard C. Holifield, and that could easily be a fake too.

It stinks of scam, it screams con job. This kind of misleading rubbish disgusts me.

Quote:

he only quote I would treat with any legitimacy would be the one by Leonard C. Holifield

You mean this Leonard C. Holifield:
Prof. Leonard C. Holifield - PH.D/MA., Soke
9th Dan Black Belt Sikaron Karate
6th Dan Black Belt Hapkido
ESI Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor / Protection Specialist
Founder - Sikaron Karate Federation
Founder - Int'l Academy of Executive Security Self Defense
Founder - Int'l Academy of Police & Military Self Defense

9th degree black belt? He doesn't look 80 to me. Also no one puts both MA and Ph.D. (note his spelling of PH.D) after their name, that would be like signing with both 3rd and 4th dan. Also anyone with a real Ph.D. does not list their title as Dr. XXXX, Ph.D. or Prof. XXXX, Ph.D. It's redundant. Finally, you never put a Ph.D. after your name in an unrelated field and I've never met anyone with a genuine Ph.D. in martial arts (no dissertation, no real degree). People who do this are misrepresenting themselves and are often very pompous (I never allow myself to be referred to as Dr. in a martial arts venue as that's not what my Ph.D. is in). So even if his relationship to Mr. Holifield is true I'm certainly not impressed.
Posted by: Leo_E_49

Re: Nightbreed - a crock - 07/30/05 02:47 PM

It says "Soke", meaning he created his own style, I wouldn't place any real value in that 9th Dan. However, I can possibly believe the 6th Dan HKD. At least that guy has references in websites other than the one listed. I'm not going to argue credentials, my point is that there's no other moderately respectable/valuable testemonials there. I.e. it stinks of lies.

Whether those are his words though, I don't know. I could easily make something up and put his name after it as could anyone else.

This one is for you, Fletch -

Quote:

Keep in mind that the Ground Fighting System developed at Nightbreed is completely the oposite of what the Gracies Jui Jit Su would teach you to do, are moves are based on a much more advanced series of combat skills developed at Nightbreed.

Right! What do the Gracies know!

This one is for you, BuDoc -

Quote:

Coal's training methods are extremely intense, but safe - a musician like myself, a surgeon, or anyone can safely train in the Nightbreed system.

The one-on-one training with Coal, being exposed to the drills he has developed, and observing and experiencing his command of the Combat Skills at Nightbreed is unforgettable experience, one I would highly recommend to anyone that wants to, and is prepared to become a better fighter than they ever dreamed.

This one is for....I don't know, it's just stupid -

The next major break through came shortly after a few months of having a baseball bat being swung at my head with enough intensity to kill me.

I found that I needed to develop a way to disperse the impact evenly across the core of the body. After several isolated months working with the baseball bat, I had developed what I now call today -- Cohesion Absorption Technology C.A.T.™

This new skill would allow me to withstand the heaviest of blows. This skill eliminated both the jarring of the brain and the shock to the body.

Right! Who wants to go first?

Hey guys, look....no contracts. So it MUST be legit.

UPDATE -

Check the [sarcasm]well edited and researched article[/sarcasm] from the Cleveland Scene -

http://www.clevescene.com/Issues/2006-04-26/news/news_full.html

Full article too vomit-inducing to reprint, but here are a few choice bits:

Quote:

He collected homeless people from bus stops and brought them back to his Parma apartment-turned-dojo, where he would tell them to punch him.

"They would sleep in my closet, and I would give them food and shelter, and then we'd wake up in the morning, and we'd start all over again," he explains.

But after eating a full meal, the homeless apparently regained their quickness. One day a punch got through and shattered the commander's jaw so badly, he needed a metal plate put in.

"We do a lot of crazy things out there," says longtime student Bob Varda, a 58-year-old former semi-pro football player. "Like one day, Coal decided it was time for me to train with my feet in boxes. You know, I thought, 'What the heck?' And we did it, and it was very awkward. But after that my footwork definitely went up a couple notches."

Quote:

He spent years exploring different disciplines -- kaji kempo, aikido, kali, even Bruce Lee's jie quan dao. But none gave him the answers he was searching for. In the end, it wasn't an ancient master, but motivational speaker Tony Robbins, who gave him his long-sought inspiration.

I personally liked the part in the testimonials done by his "students", the "Nightbreed Operatives." How can you expect anyone to take you seriously with a title like that???

Another good part was that he was inspired by Tony Robbins...Tony inspires me too...to change the tv channel.

Next thing you know, Bruce LeRoy there will be catching bullets in his teeth from an automatic weapon. I can see the training program now :

First we started with spit balls from a straw

Then I moved to multiple people with the spit balls (of course this would be his homeless friends assaulting him with the spit balls).

Then I moved up to the plastic dart gun for realism.

Next thing you know I'm catching live rounds from an M-16.

Please, don't try this at home, I AM A PROFESSIONAL !

Where do these people come from ?!

Thanks for the good laugh... Thank god Coal Akida is here to improve all the martial arts on earth... Oh by the way... Coal Adika's real name is James Coal. He owned a dog and can you guess what breed??? Yup, it was an Akida. He thought Cole Akida sounded tougher... I know James because I'm also from Cleveland, please don't tell anyone I know James LOL. In his Scene Mag. interview he say that took the homeless into his house and let them live in his closet??? Am I the only one that thinks that freaky??? I can say this in closing, James Coal, or should I say Coal Akida is a legend in his own mind...

Re: Nightbreed - a crock - 02/12/07 04:12 PM

Well, I hate to go down this road, but I think the "Commander" ought to take his good 'ole boy mullet self and enter the UFC octagon and put up or shut up. Seriously, if his junk is so deadly he could make a heck of a lot more money from UFC winnings than he could training "operatives" and delusional homeless folk in his trailer...

Or, take some of that $50K that he saved from his "impossible" knock out challenge and buy a plane ticket to California. The Gracie Academy is in Torrance, and I am sure they would be willing to resurrect the "Gracie Challenge" for someone as deadly as the "Commander".

Re: Nightbreed - a crock - 05/01/09 11:32 AM

First of all, has anybody here actually seen anything other than the site, http://fearnopunch.com? I mean, I don't know the guy personally, but I do have a couple of buddies who train with Coal and I have heard nothing but the best about the guy.

Coal Akida and his Nightbreed Academy seem to me like the real deal. I have read some nasty posts from people throwing insults at him, but in my opinion it seems like jealousy and nothing else.

If you read about Fear No Punch, you will see that Commander Coal is not touting that he has the "World's Best Fighting System", he is saying that he has put years of blood and sweat and dedication into developing "techniques". It is a fact that his techniques ARE a part of military training. He is not their sole teacher, but his techniques are recognized to be very effective and that is why they are used.

i was going to make a whole big list about how much BS this "Brand new amazing awesome godmode never get hit again!!!!" concepts are, but screw it. i see techniques, training methods, bold claims, half assed sparring attempts made to impress us all with these videos of him never getting hit!!!! ZOMG!!! heaven forbid you get hit in a fight!!! but it isnt worth my time to defraud this crap. Get one thing straight. you ARE going to go hit. you WILL get hit. DONT fear it. accept the pain, and improve your reactions to getting hit. learn immediate counters. the more simple the better. this site comes across as a bunch of pansys afraid of getting hit. dont wanna get hit? RUN AWAY, or stop competing, or stop sparring. better yet? dont waste money on these [censored] dvds that are "only being marketed to the best martial artists in the world!!!!"...... Now filled with 80% MORE [censored]!

im done. crap piled on crap.

If you actually read the information on Coal Akida's site, there is a great explanation of these "noises". They are used to keep the pace of the fight, part of the techniques Coal teaches in his fea no punch training video.

So let me get this straight - you have never met the guy, never trained in his 'system', but are pimping his website in every post, and defending him, based on a personal opinion that is based on the very same criteria you feel invalidates others criticism of the school.

Tell you what, you go train with him, you go buy and study his books/dvd's, and then you try applying it all to some full contact sparring against non-partisan oponents, film it, and post it on here.
When I see you taking out said oponents with ease and without being hit, I will consider re-evaluating my opinion of the fanciful claims inherent in his marketing.

Until then, your just blowing digital smoke in the virtual wind.
