O’Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba Portrait

Exclusive to FightingArts.com.

This is a beautifully created portrait of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. It was created by a well known portrait artist in Rhode Island, Loretta Jeremiah, commissioned at the request of her son, Kenneth who is an Aikido student. O'sensei's grandson, Dosh Doshu, Moriteru Ueshiba, actually has one of these prints in his office at the Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan. We liked it so much that we now offer limited edition prints to our readers.

FightingArts.com is offering limited edition prints from Richard Hill. The prints are reproductions of original paintings by his wife's Great Grandfather and Grandfather Obata. Both artists were classically trained artists from Sendai Japan.

Image size:
11-5/8" X 16-1/8"

Takeda Clan Samurai
In Full Armor

By the famed artist Chiura Obata

It is said he was able to bridge the two worlds of east and west into one. See the website devoted to this artist: http://obata.wilderness.net

I first saw this print framed on the wall of a dojo. It was striking. I liked it so much I wanted a print for myself, but I was told that they were no longer available. It took me two months before I finally located Richard Hill who originally sponsored the reproductions. Now we can offer you this beautiful samurai image for your home or martial arts school.

The print is reproduced on 65 lb cover, 100% acid free archival paper. & re-marked with the artist's original hanko (seal).

By Rokuichi Obata (Chiura's father)

Reproduced on 65 lb cover, 100% acid free archival paper

A powerful combination that portrays balance: A person with weapons, thus power, contrasted against another engaged in peaceful endeavor -- the traditional samurai ideal of pen and sword.

These prints look good framed together, facing each other since they are from the same set of studies. Together these prints are reminiscent of the many three piece Japanese woodblock prints known in the art world as a triptych.
