The illustrated collection of meditation lectures by Grandmaster Tadashi Nakamura
- a spritual guide for integrating Bushido spirit into daily life.
Only a few copies are available of this unique out-of-print book
One Day, One Lifetime by Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura,
9th dan, and founder of the World Seido Karate Organization, is a unique karate
book. While it doesn't illustrate punches or kicks, it does illuminate the rarely
discussed philosophy that underpins the martial arts themselves. Covered are topics
ranging from karate-do to the modern interpretation of Bushido spirit. The lectures
are transcriptions of some of the most beloved lectures that Nakamura gives twice
weekly as part of meditation classes at the World Seido Karate Headquarters in
New York City. They discuss how karate and the martial arts relate to self-improvement,
discipline and the conduct of one's life.
The book also offers practical information about meditation which Nakamura
considers an integral part of karate training. Although based on Zen, the system
shown is free from religious, national or other overtones. Discussed are meditation
procedures, postures and positioning for sitting, the importance of breath and
of moving meditation.
